In May 2010, ground was broken on Briggs Chaney Road, just off of Route 29 in Silver Spring, Maryland, for the new home of Mercedes-Benz of Silver Spring. Now complete, the new building will celebrate with a Grand Opening on Tuesday, May 10th. The event will take place from 6 p.m. until 8:45 p.m. at 3301 Briggs Chaney Road, Silver Spring, Maryland.
With the new building came a new name. What was previously known as Herb Gordon Mercedes-Benz, is now called Mercedes Benz of Silver Spring. Since inception in 1972, the dealership was formally located in the Montgomery Auto Sales Park on Automobile Blvd., just a few hundred yards from the new location. “We are very excited to provide our customers, both long-time as well as new, with such a great new building. It truly is a great representation of not only the caliber of vehicles we sell, but also the customer service we provide.” – says Division President of MileOne dealerships in Silver Spring, Dennis Turnbaugh.
Festivities will kick-off with a ribbon cutting at 6 p.m. Visitors will enjoy hors d’oeuvres, beverages, door prizes and live entertainment. In addition to viewing the entire 2011 line up, the yet to be released, redesigned 2012 CLS and SLK will be on display at this event also.
The 56,000 square foot construction was built with the customer’s sales and service experiences in mind. A 14 vehicle showroom greets customers as they enter the bright open floor-plan building with floor-to-ceiling glass walls. A luxurious waiting lounge offers comfortable seating, complimentary refreshments, flat-screen televisions, wifi and more.

If you are servicing your Mercedes-Benz, there are 45 service bays. The improved service area will help to get customers back in their Mercedes-Benz vehicles sooner. Loaner vehicles are also available on-site.
The building also features an in-door delivery area for days when there may be inclement weather. There is also a large accessories boutique for all Mercedes-Benz merchandise purchases. The dealership employs approximately 110 full and part-time Mercedes-Benz dedicated professionals.
The new dealership was designed and built to be certified by the U. S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Program. Becoming LEED Certified demonstrates management’s commitment to a clean and secure energy future. Most of the energy consumption in the new dealership will be from renewable energy sources.
